NHL Goalie Left Bloodied And Hospitalized After Being Hit With Stick By Own Teammate

Florida Panthers goaltender Tomas Vokoun was taken off the ice on a stretcher after he was accidentally hit in the head by the stick of teammate Keith Ballard in the opening period of Monday night's game against the Atlanta Thrashers. Vokoun had a laceration to his ear but was alert when he was placed in an ambulance and taken to a local hospital. The incident occurred after Atlanta's Ilya Kovalchuk scored a goal at 8:54 of the first period, knocking in his own rebound. In apparent frustration, Ballard swung his stick at the net, inadvertently striking Vokoun in the head. Vokoun was wheeled off the ice after about a 10-minute delay. This was an extremely scary moment and I am glad he is expected to make a full recovery.

Anabolic Steroids, or better known as “roids,” “juice,” “hype,” or “pump,” is a word that is becoming more frequently used in the news today. But, just what are anabolic steroids and what are the effects of this drug if any? The word anabolic means “building body tissue,” and these drugs make the user feel stronger, larger, and tougher than they otherwise would act naturally. With these kind of effects provided, unfortunately, these steroids are becoming a bigger issue in the world of sports every day. So, are these illegal substances really worth the risk? Over the past decade or so, steroids have been making an appearance in the news more frequently than in the past years. The question is why are they becoming more commonly known in today’s society? We all know how rumors happen and basically, all rumors reach the wrong person at some time or another which has caused there to be stricter testing in all of the professional leagues. They have turned heroes into the enemy, and they have caused true greatness to almost disappear in our minds. Their magic can turn the weak and useless into the best in the game. With a little extra boost of the hormone testosterone, any male or female will become more aggressive and will loose much of their personality that they once obtained. Though steroids will improve one’s endurance, strength, and muscle mass, they do not, however, improve skill, agility, or performance. You see this everyday in the news in each sport. No matter where you go, you can not get away from this talk. Congress spend more days on "steroids" then they did talking about health care. This is a serious problem today in sports.

Nascar The Ride of their Lives

I am not the biggest Nascar fan out there, however I have recently learned a great deal of information about the sport and Nascar as a brand. I can finial see past all the left turns now and see it for the sport really is. I watched the short movie "The Ride of their Lives" and saw over the past 60 years. I learned how Nascar developed quickly and, over the course of decades, became one of the most popular sporting attractions in the United States. I thought the filmmakers utilize rarely-seen footage of cars from the 1950's, along with interviews by some of the most famous drivers of yesterday and today such as, Jeff Gordan and Dale Earnhardt Jr. This film made me appreicate Nascar more and I would recommend it to those who love the sport or those who have their doubts.

The Courage of Detroit

This is the post to the article and it talks about the though economic times Detroit is going throw and how the Auto industry has gone down the pipes. It talks about where Detroit use to be and where it is currently. It talks about the tigers and how bad the Lions are. One of my favorite qutoes from it is ----We’re not gum on the bottom of America’s shoe. We’re not grime to be wiped off with a towel. Detroit and Michigan are part of the backbone of this country, the manufacturing spine, the heart of the middle class -- heck, we invented the middle class, we invented the idea that a factory worker can put in 40 hours a week and actually buy a house and send a kid to college. What? You have a problem with that? You think only lawyers and hedge-fund kings deserve to live decently?

49 Year old Chris Craft Entered in Classic Show

This was an article done about my boat I dug up from two summer ago done by our Marina where my boat is kept.

You man have seen the classic wood 30 ft Christ Craft Constellation, "Betty Jean" around the marina. According to owner Dale Trumble, who keeps her at Belle Maer in #M-16, the vintage 1957 Chris will be shown June 23-25 at the Algonac Boat and Harbor show club along M29-Which is an old Chris Craft boat yard. Dales pride and joy took three years of loving restoration and now in tip top shape.

Department of Homeland Security to protect our boarders through Lake St. Clair

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security is working on plans to put three aerial towers carrying video surveillance cameras on two islands in Lake St. Clair. It sounds like they want to place the towers on Harsens Island and Gull Island,to focus on the Canadian shoreline for drug smuggling, illegal immigration and human trafficking. I think that this is a excellent way to protect our boarders and would like to know more information on when this project with be done with and how much it is going to cost. Could be a interesting one to keep your eye on.
